Art curator Ashish Balram Nagpal celebrated the new look of the Lord Shiva through the eyes of the artist Rajat Kaanthi Dharr at Tetsuma, Colaba on Sept 1.Rajat had earlier depicted the teenage Krishna with a rustic look with dark skin, a muscular body and without jewellery. This time he depicted Shiva with modern gadgets and powers.When asked about Rajat and his work Ashish Balram Nagpal says- "God dwells within me, like he dwells in all of us! This is how I see him. The word “institute” brings to mind visuals of strict spectacled teach hers, neat rows of students sitting on benches and punishment for not adhering to rules. Shiamak Daver-the pioneer of modern dance in India decided to do exactly the opposite of that when he started his classes in 1986.With a motive to help the young and the young at heart discover and enjoy creative expression through dance, Shiamak Davar’s Institute For The Performing Arts or SDIPA, as it is popularly known, teaches Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock N Roll, Afro Jazz ,Salsa, Shiamak’s Indo Jazz and Shiamak's Bollywood Jazz styles of dance. SDIPA conducts dance classes in nine cities in India, reaching out to thousands of students every year.
SDIPA encourages more and more people to speak the language of dance, and also gives potential students the opportunity to explore arts as a profession.
Q) How will you describe about you?
A) I have always been a passionate kind of person, an extrovert, some one who loves to express myself. Dance is an extension of what I am, of what I can do.
Q) What is dance according to you?
A) Dance is a therapy. When you dance, you sweat; your feel-good hormones come out. People get so much out of the class and then we put the people on stage to perform. Every three months all my students come on stage and perform, all shapes and sizes. Performing on stage gives some self-worth, self-confidence. It gives you something more than dancing in class.
Q) When did you start all?
A) It all begins 25 years ago.
Q) Who is the best Bollywood dancer according to you?
A) Helen, There is nobody like her. Helen is Helen .I have never seen such movements, and in those days, no technical wizardry, nothing. She was so mind blowing.
Q) What is Victory Arts Foundation?
A) VAF is a not-for-profit organization committed to making dance a meaningful experience for “all”. VAF endeavors to use the power of performing arts, especially dance, to bring joy to the underprivileged, specially challenged, visually impaired and others. The stars of the movie are Rishabh Takoo, Roushika Reikhi, Ricky, Needhi Gill, Ravi Chettiah, Ricky and Shebaaz khan.The story starts with an Indian girl Needhi Gill sudenly appears at the door step of a guy whom she has been harassing for a while and after a breif chat they decide to go for a meal. Then like a bomb she drops the news that she is the sister of his friend Pankaj, a friend from University. Amazed and confused Rishabh Takoo starts to ask more questions. Needhi Gill tells the bad news about what happened to her brother, Pankaj in India, who has been kidnapped by gangsters, who want a heavy ransom or else they will kill him. With tears and sadness in Needhi gill's eyes, she manages to get Rishabh to understand but the ransom is such a large amount that they need more help. They then have to track down all the lost friends on the last day of University, that who ever may be in trouble really begins. Ravi Chettiah who is living a cool life style and Roushika Reikhi, working at the Indian Embasy finally meet and decide they should help.The music by Uttsava Anand is excellent. Roushika Reikhi performed her role very well and she deserves the best role in her career. Rishabh Takoo, a model turned actor is also promising actor and his future is very much bright. Needhi Gill and Ravi Chettiah did their job very well.

A) I have done several commercial ads films like Rupa Bumchams and Rupa Bruna, Pretto shoes, Gold Jewellery, Ads and Hair Shampoo. I also done video music album for T.series, Tips, Zee Music and Finetouch. I have been anchor for Zee Channel for long time.

A) I have done Sudhakar Bokadia”s” Hands up”, Harry Baweja “s “Bluffer”, Rock Production’s “Jeena Tu Hai”, French movie “Le Moulin and Vent” and two Tamil films by Vikrant and Aihattian.

Q)What’s the story of this movie “Jeena To Hai” in which you are playing the lead role?

A) Rishabh Takoo, Needhi Gill, Ravi Chettiah, Ricky and Shebaaz Khan.

Q) Do you have any role preferences?

A) I liked to do all types of roles, roles that give me a chance to act with lot of comedy in it. I do not like to be type casted with particular type of roles.

Q) Your future projects?

A) I have some interesting proposals on hand but I can’t give you the details at present.

Q) In your latest film “Wafaa”, the leads role is played by Rajesh Khanna. Why did you offer him the lead role?
A) I consider Rajesh Khanna a super star even today and possibly he is the most romantic hero I have ever seen. Hence I felt it was befitting for me to offer the role he deserves.Q) Initially did you have any difficulty in convincing Rajesh Khanna to do the lead role?A) After I narrated the script Kakaji was quite pleased to do the main role and I also felt privileged to work with such a great actor.

Q) During the course of shooting did you have any difficulty with Kakaji?

A I did not have much difficulty but he used to interfere with all the scenes that he was supposed to act in. Infact Kakaji wanted some changes as far as his character was concerned which I didn’t agree with, otherwise the whole story of the film would change. I convinced him and gave a logical reason as to why scenes shouldn’t changed. Hence he was convinced.

Q) Do you like to be known as Rakhi Sawant”s brother?

A) Rakhi Sawant is my elder sister.So I don’t mind being known as her brother and moreever initially I did a lot of ground work for her because of which she is well-known today.First controversy broke out in the film “Hot Money”, when I suggested that she should wear the unusual costume of coins embedded on the blouse and on the skirt too. This was the first time that an iteam girl wore such a costume and we received lot of media attention. Although Rakee Sawant is my sister I would like to established my identity as the director—RAKESH SAWANT.

Q) Are you a family person?A) Yes, I give lot of respect to my mother and father. I am very much family type of person. I hate parties and love to be with my family.Q) What is the message to the viewers?

A) Always give respect to your parents. Never forget them and take care of them till they are alive.

Internationally acclaimed and Lokhandwala based fashion designer Rohit Verma has adopted two children from the CRY organization and is quite delighted about it. With complete humility Rohit says “ the society has offered me so much, I must return something to the society and this is the least I can do. Children are the future citizens of India and childhood is an important phase in one’s life, that is the reason why I decided to do so. Please do not ask too many questions about the children as I believe a good deed should always be done secretly” Incidentally Rohit is quite busy designing clothes for the forthcoming Dubai fashion fiesta and is excited about the great response he gets whenever he participates in a fashion show.
